Purpose:- a person’s sense of resolve or determination.
What is your purpose? Have you discovered it yet? Are you on the journey to discovering?
To operate in purpose means being in alignment with the calling on your life. God created each of us IN HIS OWN IMAGE. Meaning, we are not less than anyone else on this earth. Each and every single one of us has a purpose. It is up to us to listen closely to God’s voice and discover it. He (God) knew when He created us what He wanted our lives to reflect. Here’s the evidence...
Jeremiah 1:5 “Before you were formed in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
I have always been keen that my purpose extended past my career. Do I believe that a part of my purpose ties into my job as a nurse? 100%. I think that God places us in positions that allow us to prove His greatness in our lives.
STORY TIME!
When I started working at Target, I had high expectations for myself. It was a better paying job than the two I had previously held, and I finally felt secure. 😂 NOT! Little did I know that I would go home crying some nights because I felt like I didn’t belong in that environment. There were moments that I felt so unsecured; I wondered how could ‘moving up’ cause so much uncertainty. During this time, I was preparing for nursing school and taking my prerequisites. Even though my spirit was unsettled, I was working towards better. The day I was terminated, I thought, “wow”. I remember praying about the situation because I felt even more insecure - ‘recent college grad fired from job’. However, there was a strange feeling of peace that overcame me. The epiphany, was when God revealed to me that that job would’ve ran me into the ground had I been working there throughout nursing school. I never stopped seeking opportunities. I applied to numerous hospitals with the fear that I would be rejected because of my failure. Two months after starting nursing school, my current employer called me for a job opportunity. I haven’t looked back since (well, that’s a lie - ONLY to reflect on my growth). Talk about alignment! My job as a nursing attendant allowed me to attend school and make connections that would lead to my current position.
No one could’ve told me then (in 2015), that my current manager would entrust me with the opportunity to do a mentorship presentation with her for HR. The same mentorship that she asked me to participate in months prior. The same mentorship opportunity that presented itself a few days after I told my best friend that I wanted to do more - I wanted to influence others. Now, if you don’t believe that God works, this blog AIN’T for you.
I believe that I am positioned here, because God is using me, an imperfect vessel, to relay His wonders to the world. Sis, he doesn’t want you to be out here doing any ol’ thing with any ol’ body. The moment I decided to fully pursue my purpose, God dropped me a gem - Patrice Washington. It was like a door opened for me. I felt so secure and comforted. I knew that I was in my lane. God purposely positioned me to attend that IG Live that Friday night. Sis, ask and you shall receive! Trust me! Ask Him to align you, believe that he will and you’ll be surprised to see what comes your way.
Michael Todd - Lead Pastor of Transformation Church, says in his book Relationship Goals, “don’t go looking for others to give you what only God can - your purpose ... trust Him to bring people into your life who can push you ahead and whom you can push ahead in His plans.”
I am excited for you on this journey. Stay with me. I promise I have more in store.
