What does confidence mean to you?

For me, confidence means being secure. No, I don't mean securing the bag. I mean ridding insecurities. The more confidence you exude, the more your insecurities diminish. For the early part of my adult life, I noticed that this was an area I NEEDED to work on. Granted, I’m not perfect, but I am a lot more confident than I was at 21. You see, when you are truly confident, is when you know your worth and other’s cannot deny it. Have you ever seen that beautiful woman or breathtaking man waltz into the room like they know that they’re the SUGGA HONEY ICED TEA? That’s because they know! You can’t be confident and question it at the same time. Then you’ll just look confused 🥴. It won't happen like magic! It’ll take intentional work. I’m a firm believer of affirmations and visual representation. May it be words or pictures, it's important to make your affirmations known. My vision board helps me to secure my goals for the year ahead. Every year my girls and I do our boards, I ensure that there is an affirmation station (Ha! That wasn’t intentional). But honestly, I can look at my board and see all the ways in which I’ve improved, or where I can improve. If I ever need encouragement, it’s right where I can see it.

My definition of GODFIDENT, (even though it is not a coined term), means operating in confidence and knowing that God got you. I've shared my downfalls and my wins with you, and throughout all of it, I had to observe that God was truly the Alpha and Omega of my life.

Question: Has everything in your life occurred because of your mere involvement?

I'm positive I know the answer. I've had plans for my life throughout my twenties. Did they all work out? Do I have goals and dreams? OF COURSE! There were times when I felt lost and scared because I didn't know whether I should go back to school, apply for another job, start a business, or just chill out. But I can honestly say that I am confident that my purpose is above my comprehension. It comes from knowing that I will conquer anything I set my mind to because I acknowledge that what is for me, will be for me regardless. When my manager asked me to spearhead the mentorship program at work, I was hesitant, but I saw how it tied into a vision that I'd already had. Was I necessarily qualified or ready to accept the challenge? No. At the time, I didn't know what my purpose was. But something deep inside my heart knew that this was the stepping stone to where I was being called to. It ultimately tied into my purpose.

It is important to work on your self-development because YOU ATTRACT WHAT YOU ARE. If you want amazing opportunities, you have to be confident and allow your character to shine through. Only then will you get the job, partnership, relationship, you so desperately yearn for. One of the workshops/programs I invested in during this season, has allowed me to fully put into perspective all the ideas I have for my brand. Storytiiiiime! In all honesty, I found the mastermind behind the workshop by happenstance. In my opinion, she was strategically placed on my timeline that day. A couple of days later, she reached out to me! Now I was a bit confused. How did she know I was working on something, without many conversations? Allow me to be transparent. I thought to myself, 🤔 "what are the odds that she reached out to me?", "she doesn't even know me", "how does she even know I'm trying to develop something serious?", "is she just trying to secure her bag?". Funny enough, when we got on the phone, she said to me "I don't work with just anybody, it's not about me getting money, I choose who I want to work with".

Listen, I believe in signs and confirmations. The night before I was watching a Jerry Flowers sermon, and he said God will give you an example of what your life will look like and allow you to prepare for it before he grants it to you. If you ask me, this particular individual was killing it. What really solidified my decision, was prayer. I was also drawn to what she had to offer because she started her journey, on a mission to pursue her purpose. This is one of the reasons why I believe that God can and will position you where He sees fit, but you have to trust him to align you.

There is a grace that I have acquired in knowing that God really got me! I want to encourage you to keep pushing forward. Keep on, keeping on. Sometimes in life the vision may get blurry, the journey may present detours, and it may look like life is against you. Don't allow your negative mental clutter to deter your belief that God will provide, as long as you are obedient to His will. Be confident in yourself, and in knowing that He has your best interest at heart.
