God Nudges

Lately, I've been getting inklings and what I like to call "God nudges". I'm a firm believer that when it's time for you to move (career, personal, relationships, friendships), you'll start to get inklings. In my last post, I mentioned my latest read by T.D. Jakes. He spoke about one of the praying women in the Bible, Naomi, which had me thinking. I'm not going to tell you what he spoke about, go buy the book.
All of this tragedy caused Naomi to moved back to her hometown with Ruth. We all know Ruth and Boaz every girl wants her Boaz, myself included. The thing about the story that I never realized is that Naomi was in a position that made her uncomfortable for years! YEARS, sis! You ever heard the saying that you have to be comfortably uncomfortable because that's how you grow? Well, she for damn sure was not cushy. Brief backstory: her husband promised her the world and died, both her sons eventually died, her daughters-in-law were not 'her kind'. What more do you need?
All of this tragedy caused Naomi to move back to her hometown with Ruth who wasn't from her hometown. Naomi wasn't pleased about her sons marrying outside their 'kind' (Moabites), but she trusted the process for her life. When it was time for her to move, she was out kinda! Can you imagine how embarrassing it must've been to move back to the ghetto after moving out? Please bear with me, I'm a little unorthodox. Imagine what folk had to say about her, returning empty-handed and right back to where she started.
I had three specific conversations this week, about three very different topics with three different friends in the past three days, and it made me realize something. In life, we may think that because we have certain desires and we pray about them, that they have to happen the way we envision. WRONG! God can give you a vision that He intends to fulfill, but He also intends to implement it the way He sees fit! His purpose and divine intervention, won't play out by way of our human expectations. I used to think that miracles were delivered by way of this grand firework show, until I realized that most times they happen in the subtlest of ways, in the midst of the storm. The reality is, that most times we are too caught up that we miss it.
Naomi didn't "like" Ruth because she was from a different culture to make it simple - which is a major point ... who cares if Ruth wasn't of the same ethnic background? What mattered was that she was a part of the plan. Long story short, Naomi prayed that God would deliver her, and Ruth was the answer to her prayers. It didn't matter when Ruth was from, what mattered was her loyalty to Naomi. When the going got tough, Ruth stood by her side. How many times do we flee the scene when the going gets tough and then blame God for not showing up? When all He was trying to do was build your trust in Him and give you a little thick skin. And not just for tough love, but preparing you for the next chapter in your life. 💥 Naomi moved back home with Ruth by her side; Ruth was favored by Boaz who was wealthy kin to Noami's husband and basically restored the promise to Naomi's family.
Sis, I'd be lying if I said that I haven't been going through it these past few weeks. Just trying to process why COVID, and why a second wave, and why can't I get a break. But I'm holding on to an unforeseen promise that somewhere in this hell that we're living in, that God will deliver. There are so many minor shifts taking place in all aspects of my life, that I know that none of this is in vain. Like Naomi, we just have to trust the process, so that when we get nudged, and it's time to reap the blessing, we can accept it.
