Don't Look Back

I was exercising yesterday and halfway through the routine, I found myself ready to give up, I STILL strongly dislike working out. I've tried the whole 'feel the burn you'll thank yourself later AND still dislike working out.

I started to get nauseous y'know when you work out on an empty stomach but you still push yourself and now you're almost dry-heaving, yea that. As I was doing the 'step-ups', I found myself looking at my feet instead of finding a focal point. Immediately I started thinking of my patients. For whatever reason, when their bodies have failed them, in one way or another, they distrust it. Meaning: I care for stroke patients who most times are left with residual limb weakness. It's natural that if your leg has failed you once or twice, you're now on high alert for falling or your "legs giving out". I usually tell my patients when I walk with them, that "the ground isn't moving, look up". Focus on the goal at hand; and in that moment, it wasn't be being nauseous, it was me completing my set.
Later on in the day, a thought ran across my mind, and then "don't look back" popped into my head. The fear of a past mistake, or focusing on a possible mishap oftentimes leave us stunted. Do you want to only achieve half of your endeavors and waste your potential, OR do you want to put your all into it exhausting every possible option? For example, do you want to utilize the mistakes you made after pursuing your first business, to pursue the second or will you just forever view it as a failure and remain miserable in your current situation? The only time you should look back is to see how you can improve your future, and I mean for great memories of course.
My goal whilst exercising wasn't to end up on the ground, so why was I looking down? Just like your goal isn't to fail, it's to advance. So pay attention to what's in front of you and keep training your brain. Your mind is like a sponge and it'll do whatever you tell it; subconsciously or not. Whatever the end goal, keep your eyes on the prize.
