Consistency

Maybe God hasn't blessed you with what you've been praying for because you haven't proven to Him that you can be consistent with what you already have đź’Ą. I didn't mean to start off snatching edges but you better get your Eco-Styler or whatever you use because I feel like this is about to humble somebody right quick.

Consistency has been an area I've struggled with. I always get excited to start something and then fall off in between time because of distractions, or loss of interest, or some other lame excuse that I can find because I no longer want to be bothered and I'm too lazy. Yup! I just aired my dirty laundry. Your turn!

Throughout this season, I focused on what needed to be improved, and consistency was at the top of the list. I had to stop saying it and start doing it! How many days have you said "I'm going to wake up early and exercise", and it's a year later? Sis, you are me, I am you. Lol, no seriously. I have learned the hard way that my inconsistent habits were hurting me more than they were helping me. Once I kept my eye on the prize whether it was my summer body, career or website, I was able to set a routine and commit to it. I had Zoom calls every Tuesday and Thursday at 8:00PM, and no matter where I was, I understood that my ass needed to show up. I had moments where I'd be at work and be intent on leaving by the latest 7:45PM so that I could be in the car by or before 8:00PM. You see, when you are in alignment with where you should be, you'll start making the necessary changes.

For the past 6-8 weeks, I've given most of my attention to building up this website. I had to intentionally commit. There was a mental shift. The beauty of consistency is the end result. When you dedicate hard work, time, and intentionality, the product is rewarding. You will feel accomplished. It goes hand in hand with sacrifice. You begin to understand that sometimes you have to put other things on the back burner in order to focus. I truly believe that you're granted assignments and opportunities when you've proven that you can handle them.

We all have a calling and a purpose. God intentionally gives us specific assignments at certain stages in life. He wouldn't plant things on us at a young age because quite frankly we wouldn't understand the depth of it. There are currently opportunities that come my way and I understand that had this been five years ago, I would've flunked. Now, I have to put my big girl panties on and act accordingly. I understand that my assignment is bigger than me; it's for those connected to me.

Way too often, we allow what looks pretty and fun in the moment to distract us from what we need to stay focused on. And in the end, we have nothing to show. Let me put it this way. You have to prove to yourself that you are capable of handling what you ask for before you receive it and sabotage it. What if God brought you that offer on a house tomorrow. But you're still out here spending frivolously, instead of budgeting so you understand where your money is going. Now you have this extravagant house, and can't furnish it or afford to live in it because you were penny wise and pound foolish. Maybe in preparation, you need to stick to your budget consistently so you can understand where your funds are being allocated, so when the time comes, you'll accept the offer with grace.

Saying all this to say, take charge in every area of your life and watch the flowers bloom. You have to first be the change you want to see. Start with something small. Maybe wake up at a certain time every day, and practice productive habits.

The only way that you'll master the art of consistency is by DOING.
